Finally, something NOT travel-related! 😀 About a month ago, we headed over to the Manila Hotel to have dinner with some relatives (who treated us, thank you!!). Admittedly, it was also my first time inside Manila Hotel! I just always see the iconic façade whenever we drive by, but we never actually had any opportunity to get inside – until now! And boy, is it really old-Manila pretty or what.
But make no mistake about it, we were there for the food! 😀 I’m not sure if Café Ilang-Ilang is the only restaurant inside the hotel (most probably not), but that was where we were headed. And it was a BUFFET!! Yes, that deserves all-caps!
And THIS is the first sight that greets you upon entry – a fabulous dessert bar. Luckily for me, dessert is not my weakness, so I didn’t just give in right then and there. :p However, I did find my weakness after a few walks…
Behold the sushi & sashimi — hell, the whole Japanese section! 😮 Oh, man. I overdosed myself on tempura and all of ’em raw fish, especially the salmon. There was this white fish I didn’t get to identify that didn’t taste fresh — a little rubbery, even — but the rest were divine. Ahhh. The hefty price tag will not be an obstacle for me to go back to this heaven!
The whole café was very tastefully decorated, as expected, and wonders just awaited us at every corner. It can take you a while to figure out the navigation of the place, as it’s more scattered here and there as opposed to the normal buffet system. That makes it exciting to see which food awaits you at certain places, though!
If you’re feeling bloated after all that eating (I, again, discovered that my stomach capacity is not as big as I imagine it to be), a few steps can lead you outside to their pool & deck area – not only great for relaxing in, but also for taking pictures in! 🙂
From what I’ve gathered, I think the buffet rate is around P3,000 to P5,000. My price range estimate is too large, I know, but it runs in that level. Is it worth it? For me, yes, it is — but I need to stretch my eating capabilities a bit more in order to enjoy more of what they have to offer. 🙂
