Truly, if you sit down and think about it, there’s a ton of stuff we have everyday that we don’t deserve. Sometimes being thankful and all that may sound redundant or whatever, but my point is: with everything you have around you right now, is a simple thank you to the One who gave it to you too much? If we profusely thank a person who gave us an outstanding birthday gift and call him/her out on Facebook for it, what more to the Father who gave us life, love and the many material things we know? Yessss.
Anyway! I just got back from Shenzhen, getting up at the unholy hour of 4am (where some people are just going to sleep after watching Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portugal team get their semi-finals win YAY!) C. Ronaldo I LOVE YOU!!!
ANYWAY! Off topic again! There, I got up at 4am, rode a van with my dad and some other people to Guangzhou’s Baiyun Airport for about 1 and 1/2 hours, then took a subway ride that may have very much took an hour as well. Add to that the fact that there’s a 15-20 minute walk from the subway station to our dorm at school, and you’re carrying a huge tote and carry-on luggage. When you get to the dormitory, you’re pooped. Sound familiar?
Lo and behold, the sweet, sweet aircon of our room. I realized that, no matter how many things there are to hate about our dorm, there are more things to be thankful about – like the fact that we are well-equipped with appliances like the aircon. Try living in the other dorms where they only have electric fans, or worse, none. After snuggling into my soft bed and comfy comforter (redundant? Ehhh), I also took a moment to thank God that I have an excellent bed to sleep on, well-sheltered under a good roof. Sometimes we forget about the people who only get to sleep in the streets and don’t have a choice about it.
So, no complaining! 🙂
